Travels from: NSW, Australia

The Hunger Project works to awaken the human spirit within hungry people, to educate leaders at grassroots level, to empower those most affected by hunger and to transform the conditions that cause hunger. At the heart of this approach is the empowerment of women.

Cathy has traveled widely in the field and has a deep understanding of the capacity and potential that people living in the conditions of hunger can bring to resolving hunger and poverty. She also understands the hunger we have in Australia to shape the sort of world we live in, and she helps articulate that yearning we have to make a difference with our lives and our resources.

Cathy has been highly effective at building The Hunger Project in Australia, and also delivers on a number of roles globally for the organisation. Prior to working at The Hunger Project she worked in politics in a range of capacities including co-campaign manager for a WA Federal Senate campaign, lobbyist and policy strategist.

Topics Cathy speaks on include:

  • Women's leadership.
  • From the village to the board room -
  • Influencing Leadership Stories from the frontline: How the most marginalised people on earth are potentially the most powerful Women Leaders.
  • Lessons from India and the 1 million+ women in local government .
  • The importance to shift mindset for any endeavour to succeed.
  • If this can happen in the harshest conditions then it can happen for your company?
  • Women breaking through barriers: the new frontier for feminism and women's leadership.
  • The people I learned the most from have never been to school.
  • How Gandhi's vision is alive and how we can be part of that.
  • What does it mean to be human?  - We are each other at the most profound level and how I learned this from the world's poor.
Client Ovations: Whilst Cathy is personally very committed personally to objectives of The Hunger Project and brings strong leadership skills to this as CEO, she is no bleeding heart and leads and drives her organisation with all the principles of a successful commercial enterprise.
