Marty Coffey
Travels from: NSW, Australia
Fee Range: $3,500-$5,000
Marty performed his first variety club show years ago and in the intervening period has established himself as a huge success in all facets of the performance industry, culminating in a show-stopping role in the smash hit musical "Sugar Babies" at Her Majesty's Theatre, and an invitation to join the West End production.
Marty at 17, used to join large groups in a park near his home as they practised juggling. Discovering a talent and enjoyment in the art of juggling he pursued it, adding fire eating and unicycle riding to his skills. At 21, he was performing at Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco. From interaction with the audience he developed a comedy routine alongside juggling and so was born the essence of the act he now performs.
In 1981, Marty arrived in Australia to work at the Festival of Sydney, and liking both the climate and the working environment, determined to stay in Australia where he is now a permanent resident. Since his act was so integrally based around comedy he became a regular performer at the Margaret Lane Comedy Store. He has become established in all facets of the entertainment field, working as a guest artist on shows with The Monkees, John Cougar Mellencamp, Young Talent Time In Concert, Marcia Hines, Jon English, Daryl Somers, the Delltones and Kevin "Bloody" Wilson. He has worked in Casinos, Clubs and Pubs from Perth to Cairns, and has appeared on every major television show in the Country.
Marty's act is a clever combination of spectacular juggling, fire eating and unicycle riding with large doses of comedy thrown in. His routines include the apple, bowling ball and egg juggle where he eats the apple during the stunt; his dangerous objects juggle atop a 6' unicycle and his now famous chainsaw juggle. Marty likes to juggle unusual objects, shocking his audience into laughter.
Marty Coffey certainly is an act to catch. He has a refreshingly new approach to comedy basing it around juggling - or a refreshingly new approach to juggling basing it around comedy. Whichever way you look at it Marty Coffey has a refreshing new act.
