The Scardies are John Fleming and Rusty Berther - exceptional musicians, singers, composers and comedians. Their clever and witty parodies and versatile style make them one of North America's and Australia's most sought after acts.
Formed in July 1990, the Scardies wasted no time letting the world know about them. Prior to this they performed in various groups, including the renowned a capella group The Phones. After only a few showcase gigs, the boys were hired to open the new Comedy Club in Melbourne and shortly were performing in concurrent sessions a three major Melbourne venues: the Comedy Club, the Last Laugh and the Hilton Studio.
After 10 month on non-stop shows in Australia, the guys decided to head for North America, where they did a Canadian Organisation of Campus Activities national showcase. The subsequent tour in 1992 took in over sixty dates right across Canada.
After a couple of years of jetting between Australia and Canada, doing national radio, TV, clubs and campuses in both countries, they once again expanded their horizons to encompass the United States. They have been touring North America ever since, winning every major campus comedy award in both Canada and the United States.
On home ground, the guys were a highlight of the '95 Melbourne International Comedy Festival with their show Scared in America, which they also presented to full houses at the '96 Adelaide Fringe Festival. In April '96 they premiered Scared Weird Blvd. to critical and audience acclaim.
They continue to tour extensively both in Australia and North America and at last count have performed well over 1600 shows together.
The Scardies have released two CD's. The first was the single "Bloody Jeff" which could well be Victoria's theme song. Their album "Scared", brings together their extraordinary musical talent, the wit of their live set, and a few extra tricks that can only be achieved in the studio, and was nominated for an ARIA Award.
