Terry Hawkins

Terry Hawkins is one of those rare speakers that can guarantee a gutsy message with a great time and an experience that will be remembered forever! Having trained over 100,000 people in the business sector, Terry knows what works and what doesn't work when it comes to learning. Terry Hawkins began her career in retail as a salesperson, in 1982 with Just Jeans Pty Ltd.  Having quickly established herself as a results oriented achiever, she was promoted to the manager of a major store within this progressive retail chain.  Again her ability to create results, not only personally but with a team, ensured her success as a manager.

Her ability to motivate and develop staff was recognised by senior management and she was promoted after a short period, to State Training Co-ordinator, Queensland.

Seeing the need for specialised sales and management training, Terry went on to develop and implement training programs for the retail store staff.  The success of these programs in Queensland resulted in national implementation.

Having spent almost four years with Just Jeans Pty Ltd, Terry decided to further her training expertise and joined a Japanese Training Company, where she gained invaluable training techniques and knowledge.

Her love of retail and retail training soon saw her with another marker leader, Jeanswest.  During her time with this aggressive retailer, Terry held a senior training and recruitment position, working in three states providing support and expertise where required.

The reputation Terry had built over the past years led her to being sought after by Central Park Limited in 1988.  She was given the challenge of totally developing and implementing a retail training program with minimal cost and no increase in the wage's budget.  Terry achieved this with great success, doubling the productivity of the sales force. 
Spending the next six months as a recruitment consultant in the fashion industry, Terry identified the need for specialised training.  She has a vision of raising the self esteem level and skill level of retailers so that a career in retailing would be seen as a very rewarding and satisfying profession.  Through this, all customers would be guaranteed of receiving the best service possible.

Terry has been operating her business, PEOPLE IN PROGRESS (The C.A.R.E. Training Program For Fashion Retailers) for several years and has achieved an excellent reputation with her clients.  She is committed to making a positive difference in the retail industry and this commitment is evident in her current success.
